Long before I became an artist, I was greatly influenced by my grandfather, a master carpenter. I loved spending evenings in his workshop, watching a master’s hands at work. On the weekends, I followed him through the woods of East Texas, learning and sharing his love for nature. These influences became the basis for my art.

In recent years, exploring the American Southwest has been a spiritual awakening. I feel a deep connection to this vast, timeless region. The high desert light that has drawn artists there for centuries, now has its hold on me. But, back at home in East Texas, I find the Big Thicket region provides a complete contrast and an even greater challenge to explore visually.

Much of my work up to this point has been photography because I feel the need to record my vision for future reference and closer interpretation. Often, I enhance images digitally so they become more expressive. More recently, I am working with mixed media. This method involves printing the image on different substrates, then adding colored pencils or pastels to further enhance it.

My work is constantly evolving, sometimes driven by technology, other times by simply working with my hands as my grandfather did so eloquently.
